The Role
We’re looking for two hands-on Production Operatives to join our growing team and support the daily operations of our pilot manufacturing facility in Middlewich.
You’ll play a key role in producing WHEATEX® — our circular, straw-based insulation — helping us scale manufacturing while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. Working closely with our Production Lead, you’ll contribute to process optimisation and help refine our standard operating procedures as we move towards commercial scale.
Key Responsibilities
Operate and monitor production equipment to manufacture WHEATEX® fibreboards and related materials
Prepare, load, and process raw materials safely and efficiently
Ensure consistent product quality through regular checks and adherence to standards
Assist in setup, calibration, and basic maintenance of machinery
Follow and contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Handle, move, and package finished materials using correct manual handling techniques
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace in line with H&S protocols
Report any equipment faults, quality deviations, or safety concerns to the Production Lead
Support continuous improvement efforts and contribute to process optimisation
Work collaboratively with team members to meet production targets
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for practical, reliable individuals with hands-on manufacturing experience.
Required:
Confidence operating machinery and power tools
Strong awareness of workplace safety and manual handling practices
Ability to follow production plans and quality standards (training provided)
Physical capability to handle raw materials safely and efficiently
Preferred:
Experience in woodworking, metalwork, construction, or general production
Assembly-line or batch manufacturing experience
Basic mechanical aptitude (setup, calibration, light maintenance)
Ideal backgrounds: joinery, carpentry, furniture manufacturing, metal fabrication, construction trades, or light industrial production.
